NBC’s “The Last Comic Standing” Finale
When NBC called and asked the choir to perform on the finale of “The Last Comic Standing” Season 6, we couldn’t imagine what we would be doing.
To coincide with the Olympic games of 2008, the show’s creative team staged a HILARIOUS mock Olympic Games opening complete with the final four comedians dressed as team USA, ”athletes” from a plethora of countries, acrobats, dancers, and yes …. a gospel choir!
The huge opening number featured The Desert Angels singing backups for one of the show’s favorites … “God Pottery.” We had an absolute blast, and even got a chance to warm up the live television audience with an impromptu mini concert. The show aired live on all of NBC’s affiliate stations.
The show was taped in the beautiful Paris Las Vegas Theater. Comedian Bill Bellamy served as the show’s host. Kidding around backstage, he personally challenged the choir to rock the house. We did just that, and got the Bellamy thumbs up after the show.
